YOU MUST FOLLOW EVERY ONE OF THESE STEPS OR YOU WILL BE REJECTED AT DPS.
To be able to do drive times at home, your parents/teen must first order the Parent Taught Driver’s Education packet from the state. ALL DPS wants is you to follow these steps. You do not need to fill out any login sheets or record times.
HERE ARE THE 4 EASY STEPS
STEP 1 : Again Order the packet from the state (from TDLR) for their required fee. Here is the link: https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/ParentTaught/ParentTaught.aspx
STEP 2 : Order the certificate from APRROVED course PTDE 178

Choose the BEHIND THE WHEEL OPTION.
Once you get this certificate in your email, you can take your DPS test. The test can be done at the DPS or at a 3rd party test facility. You will not need your logs at the 3rdparty facility, just the certificate and your TDLR packet. You will also need the certificate from the course where you completed your classroom hours. These certificates will look very similar, but serve different purposes.
Step 3: MAKE SURE YOU watch the DPS video, then print off the certificate. This is free.

STEP 4: Call the school to set up your driving test with us. 832-593-9170 and select option 2
Make sure you are 16 years old and you have held your permit for at least 6 months. This six-month date is written on the back of your permit.
